Jodie & Oliver’s Wedding

In 2016 I had the pleasure of providing Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography for Jodie and Oliver. The gardens are beautifully located in the heart of Kent. The venue has been in the same family for 300 years and set in 10 acres of classic English Gardens.

Mount Ephraim Gardens is a venue that I consider to be on my doorstep living just 15 minutes away. I had not previously covered this beautiful wedding venue and it was a joy to provide the photography for Jodie and Oliver.

Getting Ready

Wedding Details

I always begin my Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography by concentrating on the wedding details I consider these of great importance as they reflect the careful choice a bride has made.

Jodie had a vintage tea party theme and her bridal details reflected this very nicely. The flowers were kept very simple and to keep things practical she wore sandals. The wedding dress and full length sheer arms looked amazing.

Bridal Preparation

The Bride

I arrived with Jodie and her bridesmaids early in the morning. I like to start the bridal Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography with plenty of spare time. Every time I see Jodie with her beautiful long red hair I’m taken by her natural beauty.

Jodie’s bridesmaid works as a makeup artist so she was the natural choice to provide the hair and makeup for the girls. It is always great for the wedding photography when the bridal party are all colour co-ordinated in the morning.

I was able to capture the precious moments of the girls opening their gifts from Jodie. I was ready to photograph the connections between Jodie and her bridesmaids.

The bridesmaids were able to get their dresses on early which always elevates the photography when they helped Jodie into her wedding dress.

Jodie started crying immediately the moment she saw her Father. I was there to capture these candid moments. These are the storytelling pictures that a bride and groom will cherish.

Groom Preparation

The Groom

Matthew joined the groom Oliver for the start of his Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography. Oliver and his groomsmen were already dressed when Matthew met with them at the grooms local pub.

Matthew was able to tell Oliver’s story through candid storytelling photography. Pictures of the boys drinking and having fun at the pub are always greatly enjoyed by the bride afterwards.

I am always keen to ensure that we are there the for the button holes pictures. Matthew will photograph the groom and groomsmen as they attach the flowers. Afterwards if there is time we try to ensure we get some nice portraits.

The Ceremony

The mansion house at Mount Ephraim Gardens is a good walk from the outdoor wedding archway. I photographed Jodie as she departed the bridal suite and began her journey.

The ceremony for Jodie and Oliver’s Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography is conducted in one of the arches in the lower gardens. Oliver was anxiously waiting for Jodie to arrive. The weather was just holding out and there was definitely light rain in the air.

The wedding ceremony was short and sweet, very quickly Jodie and Oliver emerged as husband and wife.

The Reception

Despite the weather being very changeable the rain was continuing to hold off. Jodie and Oliver made their way to the other end of the gardens where we proceeded to start their reception coverage. Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography always looks amazing when the wedding reception is held outside.

Matthew and I moved amongst the wedding guests taking candid pictures as they drank champagne and enjoyed each others company. We know how important these pictures are to a couple after the wedding when looking back on the day.

The Formals

I start the Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography formals by placing all the wedding guests on the steps of the lower gardens. It is large enough to accommodate everyone and produces a great double spread in any wedding album.

As the weather continued to turn everyone made their way to the main house and wedding Gazebo. With all the guests conveniently located by the main house I was able to cover the formal photographs very quickly.

Oliver assigned the job of rounding up guests to his Ushers and before long we completed quite a long list of formal photographs.

The Portraits

Jodie and Oliver took my advise and decided to have their Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography portraits straightaway. The weather was holding off and I was not sure if we would get a better chance later on.

We headed into the main gardens where I was able to produce some beautiful pictures of Jodie and Oliver. The couple had taken advantage of a pre-wedding session with myself and felt very comfortable in front of the camera. It took just 20 minutes for us to cover many of the most beautiful parts of the gardens.

The Breakfast Room

The wedding breakfast is a very important part of of your Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography. Before the guests are invited to take their seats myself or Matthew will ensure that we have access to the gazebo.

It is so important for us to photograph all the details and the room layout for the couple. Often these images are the cherished details that tell the story of the individual touches a bride and groom have added to their wedding day.

Wedding Speeches

The lighting inside the gazebo is excellent during the day with a translucent roof there is plenty of natural daylight. We like to ensure that your Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography coverage of the speeches tells a complete story.

Typically myself and Matthew split the coverage. I focused on Oliver and the other speakers whilst Matthew concentrated on the guests as they reacted to the speeches.

First Dance & Cake Cutting

Jodie and Oliver cut the cake prior to the wedding breakfast. This allowed the cake to be cut up and served as part of the afternoon tea cakes.

The first dance came much later after the meal. Jodie and Oliver had employed the services of a local band who sounded great. The presence of live music really elevates the Mount Ephraim Gardens Photography as guests love to sing along to a band.

Disco

The evening disco is something that every wedding loves to enjoy. In the evening as the guests let down their hair it is so important that we capture those moments.

Matthew and I are always on hand as and when people want to strike a pose or pull some moves for the camera.
